What is Cord Blood

Cord blood is the blood that remains in a newborns umbilical cord after they are born. Cord blood is collected after the baby is delivered, presenting no pain or any type of health risk to neither mother nor child. It is a valuable, non-controversial source of a child's own adult stem cells. Cord blood stem cells are being used to treat approximately 80 different diseases and many other diseases treatable with cord blood stem cells are discovered each year.  A list of currently treated diseases and disorders has been provided on our website, see Diseases Treated
